Sorry, I didn't realize that I have to load scsi_mod first.
Now this part works.
I am trying to use a JMTek Memory stick (called USB drive).
When I put the drive into the USB slot, I get the message:

kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/2/2, assigned device number 5
kernel: scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
kernel: Vendor: Model: Rev:
kernel: Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02

Unfortunately I can't mount the device. The first pitfall is that I don't
really know to
determine what device I have to mount.

The related entry in /proc/bus/usb/devices looks like:
T: Bus=01 Lev=02 Prnt=02 Port=01 Cnt=01 Dev#= 5 Spd=12 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=0c76 ProdID=0003 Rev= 1.00
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=80 MxPwr=100mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 3 Cls=08(stor.) Sub=06 Prot=50 Driver=usb-storage
E: Ad=81(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl= 0ms
E: Ad=02(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl= 0ms
E: Ad=83(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS= 8 Ivl=255ms

The log (Dev#= 5) make me think it is /dev/sda5. Is that true?
Any attempt to mount a device
mount /dev/sda{1-5} mount reports only:

mount: /dev/sda{1-5} is not a valid block device

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot,
-- Bernd
