hi usb-gurus, i'm using a digital film jumpshot usb compact flash reader with the 2.4.17 kernel and devfs. i've loaded the usb-storage module and the flash card has an entry in /proc/bus/usb/devices, as well as in /proc/scsi; and both dmesg and /var/log/messages know about the flash card as well.
