Hi, I'm having problems getting a USB Mass Storage Device (a fairly generic Compact Flash card reader) to work in Linux (Mandrake 8.1 with 2.4.8 kernel). When devfs is set to mount at bootup, there is no device with the name, /dev/sd*, while with devfs set to unmount (as was suggested in a posting I saw on usenet) it has tons of the /dev/sd* devices, but none seem to actually do anything. When I try to mount any of these devices it says "mount: special device /dev/sda1 does not exist".
The device shows up in /proc/scsi/usb-storage-0/1 as: Host scsi1: usb-storage Vendor: Unknown Product: USB Storage Device Serial Number: None Protocol: Transparent SCSI Transport: Bulk GUID: 05e307000000000000000000 Attached: 1 However, it is not listed in /proc/scsi/scsi, which just lists my cd burner. I have scsi_mod, sd_mod, usb-storage, usb-uhci, usbcore, and ide-scsi all listed in lsmod (among others of course, but those seem like they might be relevant). I'm not sure exactly what to look for in /proc/bus/usb/devices, but here are some of the lines surrounding the line about the usb-storage device: I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=03(HID ) Sub=01 Prot=02 Driver=usb_mouse E: Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) Anyone have any ideas? (If you could reply to my e-mail address in addition to the list that'd be helpful, thanks). -Ari _______________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, use the last form field at: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-usb-users
