USB. The modem hands out a DHCP address when it's not connected to the cable head node. The problem is - that address has an infinite lease time. Yea, it's not a true Linux problem - except the dhcpcd client I use then exits, and leaves you with a private, 192.x.x.x address. Once it's sync'd/connected/talking to the cable head node, it then stops handing out DHCP leases, and lets the cable system do that. I've not tried ethernet - The box I'm using is a small box, with 2 pci slots - one has a video capture, the other has a Lucent OCHI 4port USB card in it (it's playing phone switch, with the Creative VOIPBlaster. See http://voip-blaster.sourceforge.net). So that's why I'm very happy the USB port works on this thing. > > > > I pull the power plug on the thing, haven't tried to > > ifdown/rmmod/modprobe/ifup on it. > <mock accusation mode> > You are an electrical/mechanical engineer, aren't you? > </mock accusation mode> It shows? :) > Can you try the alternative way, just to confirm that we are all talking about > the same problem? > Yes, I'll try it, next time it happens. -- ------------------------+-------------------------------------------------- Thomas Davis | ASG Cluster guy [EMAIL PROTECTED] | (510) 486-4524 | "80 nodes and chugging Captain!" _______________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, use the last form field at: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-usb-users
