I'm trying to get USB working under Mandrake 8.0 (2.4.3 kernel).

Trying to get devusbfs working...

modprobe usbcore
modprobe usb-uhci
/lib/modules/2.4.3-20mdk/kernel/drivers/usb/usb-uhci.o.gz: init_module:
No such device
...

Same thing with usb-ohci and uhci

What gives? I know the hardware is usable because I've used a USB
scanner under Windoze. I think it's UHCI from the dmesg log ie.

PCI: Using IRQ router PIIX [8086/7110] at 00:07.0

If I try
mount -t usbdevfs none /proc/bus/usb

I sometimes get some in /proc/bus/usb (like devices), but the system
always hangs within minutes after doing the mount, usually immediately.

Can anyone help me out here?

Following the instructions as linux-usb.org I tried to get devusbfs

What gives? I know the hardware is OK because I can use a USB scanner
under Windoze. I thought it was a UHCI card from the dmesg log ie.

If I try
mount -t usbdevfs none /proc/bus/usb

I get /proc/bus/usb, but if a try to view the contents of devices I get
a segfault message displayed and then the whole system hangs.

Can anyone help me out here?
