mmmm. do you have any other drives? usb worked on my previous board which also had a via appolo chipset with the old drive combination but the board only supported ATA33. I cant verify if the cause of the problem is ATA66 support or having two drives using UDMA at different speeds. i only have the one ATA66 drive. i would love to try two ATA66 drives in this machine to see if USB will work or not. the problem seems to be a by product of something that has nothing to do with USB weather it is just ATA66 support or if it is the drive thats at fault is hard to tell totally my fujitsu drive was also 6.4gb so maybe its the drive and the apollo chipset combination. is there any documentation around on this? i know the kernel developers cant possibly test every single possible hardware configuration. maybe ill try putting the fujitsu drive back in and see if usb is still working. and then try limit it to ata 33 and see what happens.
