Hi,

Looking at the dmesg output I can see where the problem is, the lines

usb-storage: usb_stor_transfer_partial(): xfer 255 bytes
usb-storage: usb_stor_bulk_msg() returned 0 xferred 96/255

indicate that the transfer didn't complete properly.

I've been tracking down a similar problem on my system (not a sony CD writer)
recently, and eventually discovered it was down to a dodgy cable. Replacing the cable
fixed the problem.

I did notice however that I get the following error in between the two lines above.
"interrupt, status 2, frame# 1756"

In trying to cure this problem properly I checked out the latest usb-storage from cvs
last night, recompiled and pluged in the dodgy cable again. My box hung within a few
seconds.

Ashley,
