I ran RedHat 7.3 beta and had a lot of trouble with the Intel QX3 USB microscope. The video worked fine, but the light control didn't. The light control is in /proc/cpia/video*, and apparently the write side is #if'd out of the driver because of summer buffer overflow problem. There doesn't appear to have been much progress given that the sourceforge project hasn't had a release since August 2000.
I finally would up merging the current CVS tree at http://webcam.sourceforge.net with the source in the Redhat version of 2.2.18-0.13 kernel. I had to slash and burn a few things, but I finally got some usable module, but had to copy them to /lib/modules/* because I couldn't use insmod, as there are two modules (cpia and cpia_usb) and the hotplug stuff kept getting excited and trying to load the default one. If anybody knows how to get this effort restarted, I'd be happy to contribute what I've done, but I have no real understanding of what the issues were with the driver code and buffer overflow or other issues. _______________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, use the last form field at: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-usb-users
