Thanks for the advice about which list it should go to, I've CC'd the list (though I
dont
subscribe myself).

I am running a vanilla Redhat 7.2 machine (thats kernel 2.4.7-10),
and, unfortunately I am unaware of what host controllers I'm using!
I'm not getting any error logs at all, I can get lots of debug output,
but (apart from the warning that you indicated was not a problem), no
errors...

Mmmm, doesn't SEEM to match, but please tell me otherwise !
you mention that newer versions of the driver dont have the Warning: "set too many MC
filters", should I try one of those, and if so, where can I download the latest driver
versions from?
At an absolute shot in the dark guess, (too little information mixed with too much web
surfing, and half-heartedly reading your papers)....
Is it possible that the Cable modem is "switching" between a "slower" USB
connection and
a "faster" one, when it sees "large" packets being sent it's way... at which point, is
it
possible that the driver version I have doesn't keep up?
I was going to try 2 different things
1. use the ethernet to connect to the modem and see if it still exhibited the
same
problem. Unfortunately, last night I was unable (in 1/2 an hour) to get the thing to
talk
via ethernet at all, under any OS... this MAY have been a DHCP time-out problem, I'm
not
sure.... anyway, I didn't manage to test that (it's not a great solution for me, as I'd
have to buy a second ethernet card .... oh poooooooor me :-)) )
2. I wanted to try downloading FROM the machine large globs of data, to see if
it could
handle that. (it seems this problem may ONLY be in one direction, from first
appearances
anyway).
However, today, for no readily apparent reason, it would seem the
cable has gone on the
blink. I'm assuming this is a cable problem, as the indicator lights on the modem
suggest, and nothing to do with me, so I guess it's temporary.... But it means I can't
test this out today :-(
Any help, really gratefully received !
Cheers
Mark.

Mark.
