Hello,
Is there any way to control the mapping of USB devices to the
/dev/input/xx "files"? Specifically, I have 2 (different) USB joystick
devices that appear to the user as js0 and js1 in the /dev/input
directory. Which one turns up in which place is a matter of chance, set
by which one gets there first. This can vary each time the system is
started. Presently, I must wait until startup has completed, then plug
the cables into the hub in the desired order. This not only puts undue
wear on the plugs, but also is awkward due to the connector locations.
Ideally, some way to map the device ID to the desired js? entry would be
a good solution. Win98 does implement such a configurable setup, so the
question is how best to do it?

Computers, like air conditioners, work poorly with Windows open.
