Wow, you are fast!
cat /proc/partitions shows only /dev/sda and /dev/sda1 thru sda5, there are 
also /dev/sdb and /dev/sdb1 and sdb2 ( these are my HDs) BUT
when I enter mknod /dev/sdc b 8 0 the sys replies 
"mknod: '/dev/sdc' : File exists   and so on for other sdx attempts
