I think these cables are plain nonsense (can anyone here tell me what a A-A or B-B cable is good for?). The only useful application i ever found for one of these cables was to cut it into two pieces and build two palm hotsync cables of them. There are special USB-to-USB cables that indeed contain some clever hardware that makes the cable to appear as a slave device to both hosts. Connecting your hosts with an ordinary cable will at least connect both 5V power supplies. It may even shorten them. The risk of killing one or both USB interfaces or at least blowing some fuses is IMHO very high ...
