Well, maybe it's bash on OHCI day...  I fiddled around yesterday and
obtained some more information about the mouse bug that's plaguing me. 
When the mouse is plugged into a UHCI controller (a Via USB 2.0 PCI
adapter), it works _perfectly_.  When it's plugged into an ohci
controller (driven by usb-ohci), I need to plug & unplug it 5 or 6 times
to get it to work.

So, there's something about the OHCI driver or controller that disagrees
with this mouse.

Logs are in my previous message.  Is there anything I can do to help
investigate this further?
