Hello,
getting quite desperate here.
Attached my Epson Stylus Color 740 via USB cable
& USB Adapter to my onboard USB root hub.
After the system boot up I load the module "printer"
but no device is listed in /proc/bus/usb/devices.
The root hub is reckognised ok, but nothing else.
I already tried different USB adapters, some with
4, some with 5 connectors.
My root hub is reckognised as
82371 AB/EB/MB PIIX4USB
USB UHCI RootHub
My motherboard is ATC-6130.
After boot up I have these modules loaded
printer
usb-uhci
usbcore
There does exist a device /dev/usb/lp0
with maj. 180 for use with printconf-gui, but
I get " /dev/usb/lp0 does not exist "
whenever I try to do a printout & check with lpq.
Becaue the device isn't even listed in /proc/bus/usb/cevices
my guess is that the bug is earlier on. Do I have to load "printer"
module at some init stage ?
Also, strange is this:
When I try a
# /etc/hotplug/usb.rc restart
I get " can't synthesize root hub events "
& checking with lsmod afterwards does show
that all usb modules suddenly have disappeared.
This is the first time I try to configure USB,
so please, please can anyone tell me
what I left out or went wrong here ?
Thanks you very much.
Klaus
