Hi,

i just subscribed to this mailing list.

i've gotten myself a card reader recently, and so far i've been
unsuccessful in getting this thing to work properly. i even took
it over to a friends place, where i plugged it into his XP box,
just to make sure the thing did work (it did :)

so far, everything looks pretty good and normal to me, the device is
recognized, but it seems like i can't get the media inside
recognized. i used 3 different compact flash cards, to test it, all
give the same result.

i'll try to give as much information as possible, if i left something
out, just say so and i'll supply whatever information that's
required.

my hardware is a Sunblade 100, running the sparclinux port Splack.
i have a USB keyboard, mouse, and a kodak dc280, which are all
working just fine using the usb connection.

the usb cardreader is labelled "Microdia CF-SM combo card reader"

i'm using kernel 2.4.19 (no patches applied)

my kernel config looks like this:
(relevant parts anyway:)

CONFIG_HOTPLUG=y

CONFIG_SCSI=m
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SD=m
CONFIG_SD_EXTRA_DEVS=40
CONFIG_CHR_DEV_SG=m

CONFIG_USB=y
CONFIG_USB_DEVICEFS=y
CONFIG_USB_OHCI=y
CONFIG_USB_STORAGE=m
CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_DEBUG=y
CONFIG_USB_HID=y
CONFIG_USB_HIDINPUT=y
CONFIG_USB_DC2XX=m

everything seems to be detected correctly, but then this happens:

searching google, i found some references that ejecting the device
may solve the "READ CAPACITY failed" error.

then i get:

sdc: Write Protect is off
 sdc: I/O error: dev 08:20, sector 0
 I/O error: dev 08:20, sector 0
