Hi, first, impressd with the hotplug project. Very cool. I'm using RH 7.1 with kernel 2.4.19. I have a Kodak DX3900 with the charging/download dock. I know the DX3900 is not in the usb device database; but I tried anyway.... Here is the relevent /var/log/messages:
Sep 26 10:16:14 orac kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/1, assigned device number 2 Sep 26 10:16:15 orac kernel: emi26_probe start<4>usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x40a/0x170) is not claimed by any active driver. Sep 26 10:16:15 orac /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... no drivers for USB product 40a/170/100 My Qs: 1.) How do I go about adding support for this usb vendor/product ? I have been using Linux for quite a while now... worked in a MS datacentre, saw corporate fuckwits screwing all and sundry. After that I managed an MS LAN for a legal firm which I later built a sendmail box for. So I am somewhat seasoned with linux... But I have never really contributed to the linux project beyond a couple of simple answers to newerbies. I would like to be as helpful as I can without irritating anyone- are there any probes etc that you could tell me to try to assist with this, or are we basically waiting for Kodak to come to the party? 2.) Is it possible that this product has the same protocols etc. as far as image downloads are concerned as another Kodak camera? If so, can you suggest a manual hack to add this device (with pertinent back-out procedure if not obvious)? 3.[less important- skip if you're really busy] ) I searched the list (and web) relatively throuroughly and could not find anything about the DX3900 re linux. I think it's cool that the emi26_probe was able to identify the device and correctly state I have no driver for it. How/why is it that things are standardised enough for this much recongnition but this could not be extended to actually suppport the device??? Is it simply (in short) corporate greed? Thankyou for your time. <orac> ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, use the last form field at: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/linux-usb-users
