The "Argus 3200" cameras seem to be on sale cheap these days, so I picked one up (I figure if I can't get it working directly, I'll just buy a compactflash reader, so one way or another I should be able to get it working.)
I BELIEVE the Vivitar DSC350 is the same 'guts' in a different package, but I'm not sure. The camera presents itself as a "mass-storage device" but the usb drivers seem to have trouble talking to it. Upon plugging it in, the USB subsystem detects it and recognizes it as a mass-storage device, but seems to be hitting errors trying to talk to it (linux 2.4.19), and it's never set up as a SCSI device that I can contact. Any hints what I might to do help get this (these) working directly? (If I did the search correctly, it looks like vendorid 0636 is "Sierra Imaging", if that helps...)
