1. It's only recognized as a device while the Palm is attempting to sync (<60 seconds). That's kind of annoying, but I guess it can't be helped.
Complain to Palm about that one, it's the way the hardware was designed, we can not do a thing about that in Linux.
That's what I assumed.
Hehe...I check the 001 and 002 dirs to see if stuff really appeared... I don't actually USE the file... =)2. It shows up in lsusb as well as /proc/bus/usb/001/00X where X is the device number it is givenYeah, but why would you want to use that file? :)
K... so, there wasn't a Visor Driver in the standard kerel 2.4.19 release obviously... so where would I aquire one? It'll work with the Palm m505 (I ask because I know the Visor is similar to a few older palms, but was given the impression the m505 was fairly different).3. /var/log/messages shows no driver is available (duh..) do I need one?Yes, the visor driver should bind to this device. Is it loaded?
Are you running devfs? That's the only way "new" devices could "show up" in that location.
Um... Don't think so.
K, I'm off to class. I'll google around for 'visor usb driver linux' or something when I get back, or feel free to just point me in the right direction, either works with me..But first, get the visor driver loaded, and then try. Remember, you need the latest version of pilot-link (from www.pilot-link.org) to talk to your device (the version that shipped with your distro is probably too old.)
Thanks for all your help.
