I'm pluging devices into the USB port. That should call /sbin/hotplug. I've put echo markers all over hotplug and there is nothing in the log file I should be creating. This works perfectly in another system.

I have a more or less generic RH 7.2 system that appears to boot cleanly but never invokes /sbin/hotplug. Does anyone have any ideas?

What are you doing with your system that would cause /sbin/hotplug to be
called? And how do you know it isn't being called? :)

And what kernel version are you using?
