Hi! Been doing some research.. Trying to get my SMC wirless device to work under Red Hat 8. Kernel 2.4.18-18. Iwas looking at:
http://www.wireless.org.au/~jhecker/atmeldrv/usbtable.html On line 35 it states: VID PID Radio SMC 2662W (v.1)LLM0102WN3501A0 x0d5c 0xa001 AT76C503A 3681 I've gone into the atmelwlandriver\src\includes\usb directory and edited the config.h file. In the Intersil1_DEVICES section with the other devices I place: {USB_DEVICE(0x0d5c,0xa001)|, /* SMC 2662w V1 */ \ I did a make config, make install.............. When I plug in the usb device it states: Localhost kernel: usb.c: USB Device 2 (vend/prod 0xd5c/0ca001) is not claimed by any active driver. Localhost /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... No modules for USB product d5c/a001/100 Question. Is there a certain order that I have to place the USB_DEVICE in the section? Is there another file that I have to modify so it detects the USB device and loads the driver.? Do I have to copy a file to a kernel directory to ge this thing to work? I thought this was done by make install. I'm just looking for places to start. I'm not a programmer by trade but I'm willing to learn. Much Thanks for any tips. You may have to be a little on the verbose side since I don't' do this for a living....
