Hi all I've got a new camera Sony DSC-U10 (Cybershot U) that I can't get to work under linux. The problem shows up when I try to mount it, with "/dev/sdx is not a valid block device".
I've reported this problem a few weeks ago. I got three replies (thanks folks!), but the problem isn't solved yet. The first hint was to switch from kernel 2.4.19 to 2.4.20, which I did, with no result. The others were less straightforward, but they helped to diagnose the situation. The strange things are: 1. There is no usbcore in my lsmod, while most people seem to have this. How should I configure the kernel for this, or shouldn't I bother? 2. Most people have usb-uhci, I have usb-ohci. Does it make any difference? I thought it was dependent on the motherboard, and my camera is detected in dmesg and /proc/bus/usb/devices as Vendor=054c ProdID=0010 Rev= 4.30. I suppose I needn't worry? 3. What I think the real problem is: SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices doesn't show up in dmesg or /var/log/messages, and the camera is not listed in /proc/scsi/scsi. How should I handle this? I ought to mention I use ide-scsi emulation for my CD burner, and that works well. Any further help much appreciated.
