Thanks for the response. I am running slackware 8.1 with a 2.4.20 kernel. I know this is offtopic, but could you please tell me how to undock my laptop without shutting down (or redirect me to that information)? I have been driving myself mad recompiling the kernel with various configurations (APM sleep works fine).
