I just picked up a generic drivebay sized card reader with slots for
smart media, memory stick, compact flash, and S D (the other mass
storage card) I can't remember what the name is! Anyway I only have a
compact flash card at this time. I am running RH 8.0 with kernel
2.4.18-14. The device seems to be recognized as sda and with a card
plugged in it correctly sees the size as 16Mb. I have added a line to
fstab to be able to mount at /mnt/flash (which I created), but when I
try to mount the card either manually or with the fstab entry, after
about 5 minutes I get what looks like a stack dump and a register dump
that scrolls by too fast to read except the last 25 lines, then the
computer locks up. I am able to change tty screens, but bash is not
listening. I can type a username in, but <enter> just sends a cr/lf to
the screen. I have to hit the reset button to get the computer back. I
am not sure how to get the information that I see into a file so that I
can post it. If anyone has any ideas, I would be grateful for the help.
By the way, the Windoze 2000 side of the computer sees it as four new
drives ( in my case G,H,I, and J) and needed no special drivers.
thanks in advance,
Tom.................
