Not sure if this made it to the list or not:
Hello!
I'm running Redhat 7.2 and have a Lacie USB CD-R drive. At one
point
it was working fine, then I didn't use it for a long time and when I
went to dust it off and try it out, I found that I could no longer get
it to be recognized by the system. Later, after upgrading to 7.2, I was
able to use it again after juggling around the various kernel modules.
The problem is that, silly me, I didn't jot down what I did. I was
hoping that someone here could jog my memory a bit so I can get this
going again (AND WRITE IT DOWN THIS TIME...geez...)
Anyway, when I power on the CDR, the USB system sees it, and
registers
it, launching the usb-storage and scsi_mod modules:
Jan 14 13:27:18 machine kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/1,
assigned device number 9
Jan 14 13:27:18 machine kernel: usb.c: USB device 9 (vend/prod
0x59f/0xa602) is not claimed by any active driver.
Jan 14 13:27:18 machine kernel: SCSI subsystem driver Revision: 1.00
Jan 14 13:27:18 machine kernel: Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
Jan 14 13:27:18 machine kernel: usb.c: registered new driver usb-storage
Jan 14 13:27:18 machine kernel: scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass
Storage devices
Jan 14 13:27:21 machine kernel: USB Mass Storage support registered.
It's there as a USB device, but the scsi modules never see and
attach
it to a scsi bus. If I load sr_mod by hand, it still doesn't see it.
I've had this problem before but the only thing I can recall about
having fixed it was something about having the modules loaded up in the
proper order. Does that make sense to anyone or can anyone tell me what
I'm missing here?
