I had problems with the 2.5.x series, apparently they need devfs or something. The
standard devices and access methods (e.g. /proc/bus/usb) no longer exist in 2.5.x and
the tools (usbtree, etc.) don't work. Maybe I had misconfigured it, I'm not sure. I
didn't spend much time looking at the documentation, I was in a hurry to get it
working. :-)

You might want to try 2.4.21-pre, maybe some of the bugs have been fixed. 2.4.20
seems to work pretty well though. Good luck!

Dear Aaron,

thank you for your help. It turns out that that was the cause of the freeze.
With only one drive plugged in, it has been working like a charm under
2.4.18.
I have downloaded 2.5.60 and compiled it. When I have a chance, I will
try it.
Cheers
Alberto
