Hello,
I've bought a creative mouse lite (optial usb mouse) but can't get it to work
under linux. I'm quite sure it uses some kind of standard driver sinds it comes
without driver and can be plugged into a windows system and immediately work.
I'm using (or would like to) the mouse on a jewel saffier 1500 notebook that
comes with a VIA KT-133 chipset. The distribution in question is a debian 3.0
(stable branch, downloaden from a mirror, it contains 7 cd's and says it is
official)
I've loaded the modules usbmouse, usbcore, usbkbd, hid, input, mousedev and the
ones to get usb working (my usb memory drive works). I've also installed
hotplug.
When I start up with the mouse it gives light and so on, but the pointer doesn't
react (X is configured correctly). When I disconnect it and then reconnect it I
get the following error on my first console and in /var/log/messages :
Mar 13 16:42:12 laptopje kernel: usb.c: USB disconnect on device 2
Mar 13 16:42:20 laptopje kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus2/1, assigned
device number 3
Mar 13 16:42:23 laptopje kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
Mar 13 16:42:24 laptopje kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus2/1, assigned
device number 4
Mar 13 16:42:27 laptopje kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
I sometimes get more of these errors too (3, 4)
Does anybody have an idea what's the cause of this and how I can solve it?
Kind regards,
Jan
