Hi all,

hope someone can give me a tip here...

My new aiptek hyperpen 8000u graphic tablet refuses to work under
linux. This is what happens: The tablet is plugged in when I turn on
my computer. The tablet is recognized, but it does not respond
correctly. It claims to have a size of 0x0 inches! This is what the
aiptek driver says:

Aiptek Tablet (1x257, 0.00x0.00", 0x17mm)
(USB VendorID 0x08ca, ProductID 0x0021, ODMCode 0x0003
 ModelCode: 0x02, FirmwareCode: 0x0004)
on /dev/input/event0
pointer=either
coordinate=absolute
tool=pen
xtilt=disable
ytilt=disable
jitter=50
diagnostic=none
eventsReceived=0

The tablet does not send any events, its LED stays dark. As if it was
sleeping. The interesting thing is that it is working under
windoze. Even more interesting is that the tablet IS working under
linux AFTER booting windoze and soft-resetting the machine!

And, by the way, there appear strange messages in /var/log/messages:
  usb-uhci.c: interrupt, status 2, frame# 740

I am using the latest aiptek kernel driver from aiptek.sf.net on a
debian unstable machine with a 2.4.20 kernel.

I searched the archives but didn't find anything. The aiptek-driver
guru suggested to ask here. Any help will be appreciated
