You don't say what model reader, what kernel, etc. etc... Shame. I had problems with the SanDisk SDDR-09 and kernel 2.4.20, I never could write to the flash card at all. Now I use 2.5.69 I can write the cards OK. I only do that when I accidentally delete an image from the card, normally I delete the images using the camera, I feel safer that way. You don't say what you mean by 'production'. I'd say a USB writer is a very slow way of writing image data to these cards.
