I tried to do this... my attemp failed - but I did get past that part - the
problem with mine was the scsi/usb-storage driver wasn't reading the
partition table, so I needed to have sfdisk in the initrd, and use sfdisk -R
/dev/sda  to reload the partition table, then it was available....
