Anything USB2.0 is a risk on Linux at the moment.  It depends a lot on
your chipsets, kernel version, and other things apparently like the
phase of the moon...

First I would suggest you try to find something else using a USB2.0
interface that you can borrow to see if you can get USB2.0 working at
all on your hardware.  Even then there are no guarantees.

I'm hoping things will be a lot better with kernel 2.6.0 but you may
have to wait a few months before that is realeased.  There is a test
version out now but it's not everyone's cup of tea to test kernels.
