Run
        make psdocs
on a 2.5/2.6 kernel tree to see _loads_ of documentation on how to
interact with the kernel USB api.

But I think the original poster is looking for how the code works, for
which the best documentation is the code itself, which is freely
available.

Ravi, why do you want to know this?  This work is already done.  Are you
looking to implement a USB stack for a different operating system?

Also, questions like this are better answered on the linux-usb-devel
mailing list.
