In Suse 7.3 this is what I did at console.

linux:/home/cwsiv # cd /
linux:/ # cd /media
linux:/media # mkdir FlashDrive
linux:/media # mount /dev/sdb1 /media/FlashDrive
linux:/media # ls /media/FlashDrive

You will need to modify fstab if you want to be able to mount from the
gui.  I assume you know how to create an icon on the desktop.

I dont have a copy of mine here.  As I remember RH is Gnome based rather
than KDE but the standard config files still are used by both.
