What kernel are you using?
Maybe the problem resides not with the USB2 bus, but with the usb device, as my USB1.1 mouse is found allways.
At least I improved the system performance on heavy usb load by enabling APIC, IOAPIC support in the kernel. At least I can move my mouse now when I copy data to the disk with USB1.1. I'm not sure if the speedup is really based on the APIC/IOAPIC stuff, but I think so. I just don't want to recompile the kernel again, it has been about 30 times now in the last 24 hours :(
I hope someone can help me... oh, btw, I use a suspicious "mobile disk external data storage" , hdd-337-combo. It has USB2, 1.1 and Firewire support. I don't know who build it, as it's not really mine (borrowed from a friend) so I don't have the handbook.
