Sorry to take more of your time, but after much back and forth trying to understand the Cruzer Mini 256 seems to work simply by clicking on the icon I made on my desktop.
I'm not terribly familiar with the meanings of all the modules, but it appears that these two modules are loaded, nls_iso8859-1 and nls_cp437 as well as various scsi and usb modules. When I umount the Cruzer these two modules change from 1 to 0. I was able to access and copy to or from the device. It has been a wee bit painful as always with Linux, but the payoff has been super as always with Linux. Good job for all of you folks.
