I posted this earlier and received limited response. I will try a second time and then leave it go.
I currently have a USB optical mouse and a USB printer connected on separate USB ports on my PC. When the mouse is not active (e.g. in run-level 3 (console mode) without running gpm),
the printer works fine. However, when the mouse is active, jobs sent to the printer do not print correctly.
(They contain pathces of odd color and the images look "smeared"). The effect is independent of
whether the mouse is actively being used/moved or not.
Is there a known problem with using a USB mouse and USB printer together? I am using kernel 2.4.22. My /proc/bus/usb/devices output looks like:
