If your reason for not running a different kernel is that you want to
stick with Red Hat-provided kernels, Red Hat has made 2.4.20 kernel
RPMs available for RH 7.3. To learn more, visit:

As the errata mentions, this upgraded kernel fixes some USB-related
bugs. In my case, this kernel fixed problems I'd been having with an
Olympus digital camera and a Y-E media reader, both usb-storage
devices.
