Hi Mukta,
I'm currently using 2 different USB pen/thumb/keychain/flash-RAM devices under
Linux (Slackware 8.1 and 9.0) and both are working fine:
(1) Apacer 'HandyDrive' 128MB (no model number shown, but it's the older USB
1.1 version, not the newer USB 2.0 device).
(2) SanDisk 'Cruzer Mini' 256MB (model SDCZ2-256).
I have successfully re-partitioned the SanDisk Cruzer Mini on several
occasions (using both FAT16 and Linux ext2 partition types), but haven't yet
tried this with the Apacer HandyDrive (which comes with a single FAT16
partition).
The Apacer HandyDrive device specifically mentions Linux in the documentation
that came with it, saying that no driver is required (for 2.4.x kernels) and
in the FAQ section, there's a specific entry titled "Linux 2.4.x does not
automatically recognize my HandyDrive?!" which describes in detail how to
configure the Linux "USB Manager" to auto-recognize (and load the drivers
for) the Apacer HandyDrive.
The SanDisk Cruzer Mini "manual" is a shabby little multi-language handout
that makes no mention of Linux support.
The Apacer HandyDrive came with a nice USB extender cable (e.g. for machines
without front-mounted USB ports) while the SanDisk Cruzer Mini had no such
cable.
Also, see my (30 Aug 2003) reply to a post to this list ('Experiances w/
SanDisk CRUZER Mini 256MB USB Pen drive?') for more details about the SanDisk
Cruzer Mini, specifically about a problem where it hangs one of my PCs _hard_
whenever it's already installed at boot time and I boot from a Knoppix CD.
HTH....
