Hi, I got recently USB 2.0 flash disk (Apacer 256MB HandySteno TN202, see e.g. http://www.meritline.com/tn202-usb2-handydrive-256.html), which gets detected in 2.4.22 kernel and should be available as /dev/sda, but this device is inaccessible, see below.
PLEASE NOTE, I'm not interested in using it as USB 2.0 device, I'm happy with USB 1.1 compatibility mode as my hardware is rather old (PII CPU). tail /var/log/messages upon disk plugging-in: Oct 22 09:34:51 ws14-l kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:04.2-1, assigned address 2 Oct 22 09:34:51 ws14-l kernel: Product: USB Flash Drive Oct 22 09:34:51 ws14-l kernel: SerialNumber: 070200010A90AB0 Oct 22 09:34:51 ws14-l kernel: scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices Oct 22 09:34:51 ws14-l kernel: Vendor: USB Model: Flash Drive Rev: 1.12 Oct 22 09:34:51 ws14-l kernel: Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 02 Oct 22 09:34:51 ws14-l kernel: Attached scsi removable disk sda at scsi0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 Oct 22 09:34:51 ws14-l kernel: SCSI device sda: 507901 512-byte hdwr sectors (260 MB) Oct 22 09:34:51 ws14-l kernel: sda: Write Protect is off Oct 22 09:34:51 ws14-l kernel: sda:<7>usb-storage: queuecommand() called Oct 22 09:34:51 ws14-l kernel: sda1 sda2 sda3 sda4 Here comes trouble: ws14-l:/home/vitko# fdisk /dev/sda Unable to read /dev/sda ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Needless to say I can't mount a thing, I'm getting so I/O and sector not found errors...
