I've posted a small image (from e-bay) and a listing of the keys and responses on this address.

I'm comfortable recompiling the kernel, and I know some C/C++, so hacking shouldn't be a problem.
Problem is where should what value be put?
My guess has been hid-input.c, but I'll leave it up to you. :-)
