Hi, I am running debian unstable with a 2.4.22 kernel with UHCI support compiled in (not modular).
I have a USB mouse which I would like to be automatically detected when I plug it in. When I plug it in, it shows up in /proc/bus/usb, but it does not start working in X until I do a "modprobe hid". I tried to make the hid module automatically load by putting "alias /dev/input/mice hid" into my /etc/modules.conf, but that didn't do anything, probably since I don't understand modules.conf very well. Can somebody tell me how to load the hid module automatically? Thanks!
