Hiya, I'll copy/paste the report that I've done at bugme.osdl.org because it's pretty accurate :)
------------------------------------------------------------------------ Distribution: Gentoo Linux Hardware Environment: Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8363/8365 [KT133/KM133] (rev 03), USB Speedtouch. Software Environment: Gentoo Linux, modem_run from Benoit Papillaut, br2684ctl and rp-pppoe to etalish the connection. ACPI and elevator deadline. Only 1 USB device connected at boot. Problem Description: My USB Speedtouch ADSL modem has two LEDs. The first is for "USB" and the second is for "ADSL". On my 2.6.0 kernel everything is fine and the two leds are Green/Yellow. On my 2.6.1-rc2 kernel, the USB LED is red and blink while the other isn't activated. I guess that it's still an acpi problem. I try to pass acpi=off to the kernel but it didn't change anything. I tried to change the elevator too. If I unplug the modem, the leds switch to black (That's not a bug I know :P) then if I plug the modem again, leds keeps to be black... Steps to reproduce: 1) Take a Speedtouch USB with a VIA Motherboard. That's the kind of motherboard which can't accept a Speedtouch USB under Windows (Broken ACPI) 2) Take a 2.6.1-rc2 kernel 3) Activate ACPI/USB 1.0/Speedtouch USB driver. Activate extra security for Linux except Root plug support. 4) Boot on your wonderful kernel :) 5) Watch the modem :/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I think it's an ACPI problem but I'm not pretty sure. -- -- Eddahbi Karim Phone : (33) (0)6 61 30 57 77 France ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Perforce Software.
