Hello,

My M-Audio Quattro worked with the 2.4 series kernels, but the 2.6 series
do not accept it as a valid USB device. As I've read in some of
the archives, this is because the Quattro is in violation of the USB
specs. I've tried two patches to try and fix this problem, but I keep
getting these errors:

drivers/usb/core/usb.c: registered new driver snd-usb-audio
drivers/usb/core/config.c: duplicate descriptor for interface 1 altsetting 4
usb 1-1: can't read configurations, error -22

I've contacted the M-Audio people, hoping that they will issue a firmware
update, but there's not much hope on the horizon yet. I've read that there
are more devices which are slightly in violation of the USB spec and that
there has been some discussion wether the strict checking is really
necessary/desirable.

My question is: what are the plans surrounding these devices? Is there any
hope that the 2.6 kernels will go back to the more relaxed behaviour of
the 2.4 kernels or is it time to shop around for a new audio device?

Kind regards,

Denis
