I don't see any sense in setting up an alternative development branch,
just so users can have things that work.  If you make lots of noise on
the developers' lists you might find it helps.

But try to make some allowances for people who call themselves 'developers'.
If they just make everything more robust, and don't change a lot of things,
then nobody will notice them.  :)
