I don't know.  If the other keys work it seems likely that it's not a
USB problem, but a keyboard driver problem.

Hm, maybe. I'll look at this issue. Havo to read some Howtos again.

A later lernel _might_ help but I wouldn't be confident of it.

Yes, I've also thought about it. But I think I wouldn't have the patience solving the problem on that way. One time I tried to update my kernel and already failed to chose all kernel options at the beginning. :-)


It might be worth sending a message to the kernel list.  There
was a similar problem mentioned here on this list recently, I
don't remember seeing any follow-up messages.
