LIL- The descriptor table is corrupt. This can either be caused by a
geometry mismatch or by moving /boot/map without running the map
installer.
It looks like you might have changed something (the kernel?) without
subsequently running the map installer (i.e. the lilo executable),
but there might be other explanations.
You might have better luch with GRUB, but I'm not clear exactly what
you're doing so I can't say for sure.
Either way I don't think it's a USB problem as LILO's second stage
boot loader is running so it's been read from the disc.
