You have to compile your own kernel. It's not trouble on RH9 assuming you have installed the development tools and libraries needed.

I guess I could do that..although I'd rather find a different solution. I've not yet compiled a kernel, and I need that to work on several different computers, plus I need something simple enough for anybody to do it. So really I'm looking for an 'easy' solution if any.

Are you saying there's no other solution than building my own kernel? No USB to serial works on a regular RedHat 9 distro ?
Or, if some devices are supported, could you suggest one.


Otherwise, I guess I could go with pcmcia<->serial. Does that work fine ?
