the output of lsusb -v is a little long (about 40KB), that's why i don't include it here. it can be found on http://nix.bockb.de/lsusb-v-s1.3.output.txt

* the problem:
i sometimes got the message "Config 0 descriptor too long, truncating" (I am not sure if it still occurs, i can't find the exact output right now)
lsusb -v -s 1:3 stops shows following error-msg: (these are only the last few lines, full above)
descriptor length past end: 09 05 81 01 03 00
Language IDs: (length=4)
0409 English(US)
As you can see the descriptor gets truncated and i think this could be the source for problems with alsa and others.
alsamixer can't change the volume of all channels, maybe doesn't show all correct, ...
i think it could be sufficient to increase the buffer sizes for the descriptors in linux-usb/kernel.
