Hi all!
On my PC I have instaled and working 2 operating systems : Mandrake 9.1 and
Windows2000. I have realized the following differences between Windows and
Linux when I unplug a USB pendrive:
Linux Mandrake
1.- Before unplaging the device I execute the umount command.
2.- My pendrive has a red LED that continues lighting
3.- I unplug the pendrive
4.- I plug it and I can't mount it: /dev/sda1: Input/output error
Kernel messages : usb_uhci.c: interrupt, status2, frame # 1318
I/O error: dev 08:01, sector 0
FAT bread failed
5.- If I try to mount another time, everything goes OK.
Windows 2000
1.- With the right button of the mouse I select Disconnect hardware and then
USB mass storage device. I select Stop later.
2.- My pendrives red LED is off.
3.- I unplug it
4.- If I plug it on Windows or Linux everything goes OK, without any
errormessage
What command Windows use to umount the pendrive?
Why in Linux isn't enough an umount command before unplug the pendirve?
