Hello everyone,

I recently bought a new MP3 player, the newgen 5 from teravale
(teravalue.com). It has 512MB internal flash memory and you also can plug in
another SD memory card.
It's connected through a USB 1 connection.
Right now I am running a 2.6.6 kernel but it didn't work with any of the 2.6
series afaik.

My problem is that if I connect the player when linux booted up already no
device is created in /dev at all. Also when I try to connect any other USB
device after I plugged in the player it is not detected anymore though the
devices that have been connected before still work (my mouse does).
If the player is connected to my PC already and I boot up in linux it is
detected and one sd and one sg device is created (one for the internal memory
the other for the SD card slot).
I can even mount it but after I copied some songs the device gets disconnected
too and I get a lot of I/O errors.

I tried this on 2 different machines, one with a VIA usb chipset and another
one with an Intel USB chipset.

Here is the dmesg output I get when I plug in the player while linux is
running:

I tried it with a 2.4 kernel and it worked fine but I really don't want to
switch back to it since everything else is running great.

If you also need the output of dmesg when the player is already plugged in and
I boot into linux please let me know and I will mail it right away.

I hope someone can give me a hint if it's my mistake or if there is something
else I can try.

Thank you
