Ok, over the weekend I had some time and the possibilty to test on another computer with another ali chipset and it worked perfectly (I tested with a harddisk and a DVD-RAM). I was able to copy 1GB and 750 MB from the disk on my notebook the transfer dies a lot under this limit (ca. 40 MB). This leeds me to the assumtion, that the problem is the combo cardbus usb/firewire controller from ali, which I could determain doesn't work reliable as firewire controller unter Linux and that seems to have problems also on the usb parts. I think the irq sharing (ohci1394, ohci_hcd, ehci_hcd, realtek card) on irq 9 could be the problem, but I can't change that, so I tried playing with acpi and pci_latency settings, but nothing helped. So now I stand before the problem whether to buy another combo card controller. (I want firewire + usb 2.0) This leeds me to the question, if someone has tried the Lacie Combo Card and would provide some info about it. Lacie it self only states, that it works with an Texas Instruments Chipsets. So I only found some matching firewire chipsets, but no usb 2.0 chipsets. Are there any?
